The Greening Project

a LONG TERM PROJECT RANGING FROM GUERILLA GREENING TO POCKET PARKS

  • We believe that planting trees, flowers and shrubs in our high street has multiple benefits; it helps to clean the air, softens the streetscape in urban areas and makes it a more pleasant place to be

  • In early 2019 we won a grant for greening and have invested in dozens of bay trees in planters which now stand proudly either side of the entrances of many businesses on the high street. At the foot of the bay trees we have planted bulbs for spring colour

  • On Aldermans Hill sat a huge and very unloved planter concealing an air conditioning unit. With permission, we cleaned out the entire area, replanted it and through volunteer power, we maintain it and water it. No longer an eyesore, the bed is a huge improvement

  • Our volunteers regularly litter pick on the high street and maintain the flower beds near Palmers Green Library, we’ve been planting Verbena and Lavender to encourage the birds and the bees next summer.

  • We successfully crowdfunded locally to raise money to install mature trees in large pots on the high street. Our donations were then match funded by The Mayor of London and the Make London grant. We now have four mature trees in huge pots dotted along the high street.
