VOLUNTEER MEET -UP BRINGS ENERGY, IDEAS AND ACTION

Last Wednesday evening, we were delighted to welcome a fantastic turnout of local residents, supporters and volunteers to The Fox for our latest Palmers Green Action Team meet-up.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along. The room was full of energy, ideas and—most importantly—a shared commitment to making a real difference to our high street and community.

What we discussed

The session provided an update on the wide range of projects already underway, as well as where we’re heading next. Highlights included:

  • Greening Project – building on recent planting, trees and rain gardens to create a greener, more welcoming high street and a future “green corridor” linking local parks

  • Shopfront Project – sensitively designed shopfronts

  • Street Art Project – celebrating local creativity with murals, installations and partnerships with artists and schools

  • Markets & Events – continuing to grow Devonshire Square markets and community events that bring people together and support local traders

  • Trader Target – actively working to attract new, high-quality businesses to Palmers Green, reduce vacancies and diversify what’s on offer

Across all of this, the message was clear: there is huge momentum—but we need more people actively involved to help deliver it.

A new approach to volunteering

We’re evolving how we work with volunteers.

Rather than large groups where ideas can get stuck, we are now focusing on smaller, action-led groups where people can contribute in practical ways, whether that’s:

  • helping with greening and planting

  • supporting markets and events

  • working on the Trader Target initiative

  • contributing skills like communications, outreach or design

You don’t need to be an expert, and you don’t need lots of time. Even 30 minutes, whether that’s litter picking or making a few calls to potential new businesses, can make a real

difference.

You can now sign up to specific volunteer groups via our website https://www.palmersgreenactionteam.org/volunteer

.

Staying connected

To help keep things focused and effective:

  • The main WhatsApp group will move to broadcast-only

  • Updates will be shared through our newsletter, website and Instagram

  • Each project group will provide clear ways to get involved and take action

Thank you

Palmers Green Action Team is powered by its community—and last week showed just how much passion there is for our high street.

Thank you again for your continued support.
Whether you can give an hour a month or a few minutes here and there, it all adds up—and helps us create a thriving, vibrant Palmers Green for everyone.
